I. Give the truth table corresponding to the following statements.   
            1. ( (p V ~p ) ^ q )  ---> ( p <---> q )          2.  ( p V q ) <---> ( q  ^ ( p ^ ~p))    

II.  Give the elements of the following sets by listing.     

         1.  { x | x  is an integer,  x 2 – 4 = 0 }               
         2.  { x | x  is a real number, x 2 +  6 = 2 }      
         3.  { x | x  is an integer,  x 2  – 18 = – 2 }       
         4.  { x | x  is an integer, 2x = 4x +  2 }          
         5.  { x | x  is a real number,  2x = 2x + 2 )                                      
         6.  { x | x are the first three planets of the solar system } 
         7.  { x | x is an integer,  2x 2 – 6x = 36 }
         8.  { x | x are prime numbers, 20 < x < 40 }
         9.  { x | x is an integer, 3x – 18 = 0 }
       10.  { x | x are presidents of the Phil. from 1984 to the present }

III. Solve the following problems. ( 40 pts )
  1. In a survey of 500 cable TV viewers  the following data were obtained : 285 watch   
      soccer ( S ) games, 195 watch boxing ( X ),  and 115 watch basketball ( B ), 45 watch
      soccer and basketball, 70 watch soccer and boxing, 50 watch boxing and basketball
      games and  40 do not watch any of the 3 games. (a ) How many people in the survey
      watch all the 3 kinds of sports? ( b ) How many people exactly watch one sports only? 
        c) How many people exactly watch two sports only ?    
      Draw a Venn diagram and fill all the 8 regions. 

2.  a)  Determine the complement of  A union B  if  A  = { 2 , 4 ,  5 ,  8 ,  9 ,  10, 14 } ,  and 
              B = ( 1,  2,  4, 7, 10, 12 ) and U = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 }.    

   b) Determine the complement of  A intersection B  if  A = {10, 11, 12,  14, 16, 18, 19, 20 } , 
           B = { 10, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19 } and U = {10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 }.
