Analytic Geometry Assignment to be submitted on February 28, 2012.


  I.   Find the equation of the ellipse given the following conditions.
        a.    C( 1, 1) ,  a = 1 ,  c = ¼   with horizontal axis.

        b.   C( 4 , 3 ) ,  a = 5/2  ,  b = 2  with horizontal axis.

        c.    C( 0, 2 ),  F( 0, 5 ) ,  b = 4

        d.   C( 2 , 2 ) ,  c = 3 ,  b = 4  and with vertical axis.

  2.   Find the equation of a locus of a point which moves so that its distance
         from the point  ( ae , 0 ) is  e times its distance from the line x = a/e .
         ( where,  0 < e <  1  ).

  3.  Find the equation of the parabola given the following conditions.
        a.   F(  -1, 0) ,  V( -3, 0)
        b.   with horizontal axis, V(1, 2 )  and  latus rectum (  E E’ ) = 6
        c.  F( 1, -1 ) , directrix line y = – 5 .
        d.  Focus ( -1 , 4 ) and end points of latus rectum ( -1 , 1).  ( 2 answers )
